I can only think of a couple people I served with that I stay in touch with. All on FaceBook though, no one in person. Just wondering how many of you still connect with battle buddies from your former units.

I have reconnected with a ton of my Brothers and Sisters over the years on FB. But I have 3 of my Best Buds that I speak with weekly. One of my Brothers ( R J Imhoff) actually got me to sign up here on RP actually lives 2 miles down the road from me. We went thru AIT and were roomates down in Panama on Ft Kobbe for about a year and a half. We talk alomost everyday.

I stay in touch with a few folks, mostly via Facebook. I have gone to visit a guy I knew a few times over the years. They're all good people.

I keep pretty good contact with many of the people I deployed with or worked with in other units. It's very hard to keep up with everyone though. I noticed today that 95% of the people on my Facebook are Soldiers I have worked with in the past.

I noticed the same thing when I was inviting folks to RP. Hard once someone changes duty stations especially though.

Everyone I knew pretty much have disappeared after I left the Army, six years ago. Only one person I knew in the late '80s that I leave comments on his posts on Facebook...so much for having "battle-buddies."

I spent a few months in Iraq in 2006 as a gun truck "commander" as part of a small EOD security element. Essentially - we'd take two gun trucks out to escort an EOD team to sites where IEDs detonated and/or were found. We had engagements with the enemy on pretty regular occasions.
One of the biggest regrets I have in terms of my career is that I'm no longer in touch with any of the people I served with on that team.
Back then, Facebook wasn't a thing yet and we all went our separate ways when we got back to the states.
I hope those guys are doing okay.

I recently found a bunch of them on a FB group created for the old unit. Apparently one of them is having a reunion this year!

My platoon had just 16 guys most of the time, and a few have now passed. About 20 years ago I searched online and found many of them and we met up in Las Vegas for its big Veterans Day Parade. I have arranged several more of these informal reunions. I am in regular email contact with 2 men(Dave and Ken) and less often with others. A few of us plan to meet again this year to attend the Las Vegas Parade which I think is the largest one in the country . Our last visit there was in 2019 before COVID. We stay at the Plaza hotel at Main & Fremont St. The "Fremont Street Experience" has good nightly video shows on the overhead ceiling. I am a life member of the 82nd Airborne Assoc. "Golden Brigade Chapter" and have attended a few annual reunions.

I served in during the Vietnam War and for nearly forty years, had no contact with any of my buddies I served with. On a whip, about four years ago I Googled my old unit and found a web site for it. I went into buddy search on the site and found some of the guys in by squad had also been there and I responded to the site. About a month later I got a phone call from one of my buddies and that opened the door for other contacts. About a year later I was able to connect with my best friend over there and we have maintained phone and email contact since then. In March of this year our regiment is having a reunion and both of us will attend, hopefully, anyway. I have since joined the regiment association and become involved in more activities with the guys in the unit. It has been helpful in overcoming some of the issues many Vietnam vets have faced since we returned.
