Do you think civilian thrill seekers who participate in challenge races and competitions would cut it in the military?

Do you ever watch Wipe Out or Bullseye or Survivor and wonder if the competitors would cut it in the military? While a few competitors have served, most have not. They all seem to complain a lot even if they are in shape? What are your opinions?

I watch Red Bull videos sometimes, Sir. I wonder why some of these folks aren't military. There's some potential HALO guys right there. I'd love to ask one of them. "Dude...you could do this A LOT! Sign here."

These folks tend to not be conformists and "by the book" types, which is why the do some of the things they do. Granted SOCOM has it's share of adrenalin junkies, but there's a lot more to it than just the willingness to do some crazy-ass stuff.

Very astute observation. Some of my Tough Mudder friends (I don't race) are very fit and they like the challenge, but abhor routine and claim they get easily bored by the mundane. They would not fit in well

Recruiting from some of these adventure based activities might be a good idea.
