let me get this straight, professional athletes can beat their wives and girlfriends and do drugs, and nothing happens, but this guy is gambling and gets barred for life from baseball? Sounds fair to me.

Lifting the ban is moving in the wrong direction. Instead, all professional athletes who commit felonies or violate sports league ethics are permanently banned from the halls of fame, all-star games and they must return championship rings/green blazers etc.?

Absolutely, if they are accepting Barry Bonds' "record" setting home run, A-Roid's 3000th career hit, let Charlie Hustle back in the game. He admitted he bet on the game, where others took the Lance Armstrong approach and denied doing anything wrong, or when caught they make a "momentary lapse in judgement, and completely regret their actions." All PR hogwash.

I also would agree, though I never saw him play (to young) what he was able to do on the field is nothing short of amazing. Though he did bet on baseball while a manager that does not take away what he did as a player.

He did bet on baseball, but he bet on his team to win. That's what makes it all the more frustrating. Besides gambling, he didn't actually do anything to make his team win or lose.
