And if so how do they cope or adjust?

I wonder if Muhammad Ali was so caught in the light he was so triggered he lost touch with his own reality I mean his health and what he was feeling.

I think Fighters and Football players go through much of the same thing combat soldiers do. The athletes are surrounded by a support net work that hones them for one thing, to win. A lot of their identity is tied up in that. When they lose a lot of people are effected from promoters, handlers, trainers, coaches etc. The pressure of not failing and consequences of failing must be tremendous. When the athlete’s career is over the team is gone he is now alone. I think for soldiers it is fat worse because failure can mean death for friends.

I'd say it's a pretty safe bet for both. We know for a fact it's an issue for many NFL players and getting punched and kicked in the face for a living can't be much better in terms of CTE (or maybe worse)
