Do you think that Drill Sergeants should go back to wearing the pistol belt as part of their duty uniform?

I've always viewed the Campaign hat and pistol belt worn by Drill Sergeants as a sign of respect and authority. When I noticed that drills were not wearing it anymore I became a bit disappointed. It was a tradition for as long as I can remember; same as the Marine Corps DI's.

When worn in this capacity it is merely a symbol and a tradition. When worn along with the campaign hat is a sign of recognition between Drill Sergeants and the rest of the cadre. Thus giving the Drill Sergeants the ability to wear their headgear indoors. Back in the day most school house instructors wore the pistol belt as well and same rules applied.</span><br></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 13pt; font-family: Tahoma; color: rgb(52, 52, 52); "><o:p> </o:p></span><span style="color: rgb(52, 52, 52); font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 13pt; "> </span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><br></p>

The campaign hat is uncomfortable enough. The pistol belt doesn't prove anything. It is the way that Drill Sergeant trains these young men and women to become Soldiers.
