Col Rebecca Lorraine Ma'am, I was not ware that this was an issue. Women have a long history of proudly serving our country. The Women In Military Service For America Memorial should not be allowed to close. Below is their webpage:

We need all women who have served and are serving to register and let their family and friends know. This is a shame that needs to be corrected. Thank you for passing on.

Can't imagine that. A couple of our best SQD LDRs and PLs were female on our last deployment out front supporting the Infantry in route sanitization and crater repairs. Now that there is full integration it would be an even worse slap in the face to those who served.

Col Rebecca Lorraine - Not hard to be complimentary when folks do what they are supposed to be doing and a little more.

Why would it be at risk to close? The article was more than a little sparse on details and I can't access videos from my current computer.

What is preventing the current president from naming it a national monument or some other category protected by the Federal Government?

MCPO Roger Collins I think that would cause an uproar with the other memorial nonprofits. The difference with this is it is actually a museum with an collection of artifacts dating back to the American Revolution. They have movies, records and have funded some studies on women in the military. Enough people don't know they exist. Except women veterans. They must do a better job with advertising and fund raising.

Col Rebecca Lorraine - It was news to me and I was stationed in DC for a couple of years. Since many things were done that upset many, why not now. When Obama starts cranking up the pardon machine there will be an uproar for reason. I would bet most, if not all, RP members would be on board.

MCPO Roger Collins - It right at the entrance to Arlington. A very prominent feature at the end on the main promenade.

I think if someone stepped up and got the word out to the public about it closing, things would change for the better.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! I just returned from a Nevada Honor Flight and closing any Armed Forces Memorial would be a travesty. We visited the WWII, Korean, the Wall, FDR, Woman's, Navy and Arlington Memorials, among others. And to close them you would have to trample thousands of citizens. If money is what is needed, try our elected officials allowances, close their barber shop, beauty shop, private commissary, Exchange, cut their number of aids. As usual, cut the military or their earned entitlements first.

Of course not!!! And what a lot of people don't know is that it's the first thing they see when they drive up to ANC. It's a great place to visit to get a better understanding of what women have contributed to throughout the years.
