Do You Think Today's New Military Recruit Would be able to handle Old School Drill SSGT's Hands on Wall to Wall counseling?

Yes, of course. No more or less than any other generation. We all seem to have this nostalgia about our generation and prior generations as we continue to label the "new" generation as soft. WWI vets probably complained about WW2 veterans. WW2 veterans complained about the softness of Korean veterans. Korean veterans complained about Vietnam veterans and so forth. In the end that "new" generation always handles the job and performs well just as our current generation is currently doing.
Yes, there would be a lot that couldn't handle but there was a lot that couldn't handle it in the past. The only real difference, to me, is that weak soldiers are highlighted due to social media where as in the past they just went away. In the mean time the quality soldiers just keep on being successful.

They would never be able to handle it. Today's recruits are soft and want to be babied. We use to joke about the stress cards we had heard they give to recur it's now. I don't know if it's true or not, but if your in basic and you get upset and want to break down and cry because the Drill Sgt. Is pushing you to your limit or yelling at you to make you push your self harder and you can't take it. Or you might get a person who's mommy or daddy did everything for them and they never got disaplend and they join the military, they could make old school basic. Like the WWII OR Vietnam vets had it rough. I went thru in 89 and it was tough but we leaned what we could do and we learned never to give up or quit. We weeded out the ones who were weak and they were sent home. The ones who had the drive to go on but missed some of the training were sent to a platoon which just started out on day one or to a platoon where they were at the point which they need to strengthen themselves in. We had one recruit who could take it and wanted out back then. He did something dumb to get out but he paid the price before they let him go. We also had all males basic which I think was better. Which is just my opinion, but back then you didn't have drill instructors getting into trouble with sexual harassment or having sex with a recruit. You didn't have solider have sex during basic and getting in trouble with doing anything with the opposite sex. I just think basic today is easier and softer on the new recruits.
