This question is for all RallyPoint members, active, reserve, guard, vet and retired!

Do you wear your dog tags daily? Only when your deployed? Only since you got out?

In my own service it is unusual for SM's to wear their's daily. Often they are kept in the mobility folder.

I had my dog tags on from the day I was given them to the day I was discharged. When I enlisted again years later, I started wearing them again at all times. I do this so that if I am in an accident my blood type is shown as well as my name/identification.

Capt (Join to see), I know a few folks from my BMT flight that had to get new tags because the folks at medical mixed up blood samples and we all had to get retested at our perm duty station.

It happens more often than you think. And not just in the military. There are patients that I've taken care of that "knew" their blood type for years, but when they were typed and cross matched for a transfusion, they found out they were misinformed. Even in country we still have an expiration time for a type and cross... So if you need more blood a few days after being transfused, even on the same hospital stay, we redraw the blood and test it.

I wear mine during duty hours. When I'm not actively engaged in military related business I leave them on my dresser.

I wear it any time I'm in uniform. Since I'm in the Guard that's not usually daily.

I don't even know where they are now. If i did i would not wear them they served a purpose while i was on active duty. When i find them i will put them in my shadow box.

Never after I got out. They are around my teddy bear's neck on my bookshelf. I've had that bear since I was a child and it represents my pre-Army life. The dog tags represent my army life. Not sure what to use for my post-army life.

Yes, still wear mine. At least one of them...Lost one someplace just before I got out....Probably out in some German training area....I added it the the chain around my neck with the other 2 medical alert dog tags I have for Diabetes/Insulin and 1 for Cumiden blood thinners. At least if help gets to me in time they will have an idea what they are dealing with.

I ETS'd in 2001. I carry one on my keys. I have one on my primary suitcase. I wear a set when traveling. I have 4 spare sets that I use for various purposes.
