No.
You cannot close Pandora's Box. You cannot unlearn what is learned, you can choose to forget, but the things we have learned should not be forgotten.
Someday, I will be a retired serviceman, but I will never be a civilian, the habits that I have acquired , the things I have learned will not die, nor would I would them to. I will take it as a matter of pride that when I am 70, it will be evident that I stood up for the civilians when they would or could not.

There were several occasions where I would have preferred being a civilian. Cleaning clover leafs on ship, stirring shit pots, scooping overloaded and clogged toilets by trash bag covered hands and when dodging poo flake fall out from the burning shit pots.

MSgt Daniel Attilio LOL, there are definitely times that I have questioned my sanity.....
But I would not trade my service time, or the good folks I have served with.

Neither would I, neither would I CMSgt James Nolan - these are my most go-to stories when someone wants to complain about their intolerable workday.

I remember wishing that I could go back to being a civilian; when I was making my bed, as a Squad Leader.
