Does 11B in the Ranger Regiment paint rocks? Or is that just in regular Army?

I found as a 11B you will become very familiar with rocks, you will walk on them ,sleep on them ,carry them (or so it seemed sometimes,)small ones will become part of your food groups , and don’t get me started on their relationship to entrenching tools,so if you find yourself painting rocks you are probably in a rear area where creature comforts not normally available to grunts abound, enjoy! PS They are also great to hide behind when the bad guys are shooting at ya!

SFC James Cameron
Every Infantryman has taken up a game of tossing rocks into a piece of headgear, lol.

I'd be focusing on more serious subjects. Remember you don't get your 12 inch bowie knife.. Compound bow and blowpipe... until after you graduate.

If you’re painting rocks as a Ranger Trainee it’s because you are helping prepare for Best Ranger Competition. It’s a really big deal where most all Units send their best Rangers to see who is the best. I had friends that were walkers at RTB and those guys where social ghosts leading up to and during BRC.

Do you mop your floors, clean your room, or paint your house? I would assume yes. Do Infantrymen or Rangers have private contractors in order that they do only combat infantry training? No. Be prepared to embrace the suck. There are always jobs that are neither fun nor enjoyable, yet those activities need to be done. And we do those jobs willingly because we know the greater mission. We are responsible for maintaining our bodies, maintaining and cleaning our equipment, and maintaining and cleaning our living quarters. All of these things are done in order to complete the mission which is always priority number one.

Expect to do dumb details every day. Not trying to discourage you, but it’s part of the job. Especially fresh in. You’ll be telling yourself “ this shit is stupid! “ at least once a day. But that’s normal.
