Hell, yes. That is unquestionably a combat-related battle injury...no Ifs, Ands, Buts, or Maybes!!!

I believe he is entitled to it. He was serving his country, and received the injury by enemy actions. Bless him. I thank both of you for your service.

When I was in Afghanistan all road side bombs injured soldiers were submitted for Purple Heart, there were some cases in which some commanders refused to honor their obligations to their soldiers, if your son in law is one, he needs to use his Congress rep.

I guess that everyone can have a different opinion here, but the way I see it is, this is a combat injury. It may not be a "wound" but it should qualify for the Purple Heart. It is just as serious and debilitating as any other wound suffered in combat.
Final answer, YES. Just my two cents.

He absolutely deserves it. He was wounded in the line of duty.
I would get in touch with a service org to help you with the steps to get that medal for him!

I not sure of the wording for a soldier to receive the Purple Heart Medal but it seems that if the soldier was serving especially in a "hot spot" then logically that soldier would be eligible for the Purple Heart Medal.
