I've researched and found ACMR means ARCOM with R device for Remote. It would make sense for my last deployment to El Salvador since it was in some outskirt city. But I've since pcs'd and the award jacket came with no orders. I'm in the process of trying to track down someone from that S1(unit disbanded), but if anyone can confirm this for me I would appreciate it. I'm trying to iron out my file for the 7 board. Thanks in advanced

Thanks for the question! This one made me have to go learn about these new ARCOM devices.

This HRC page describes the ACMR as a ARCOM Commendation Medal w/R device:
https://www.hrc.army.mil/content/Data%20Codes%20Listing

This HRC page says the R device is intended only to recognize achievements which directly impact combat operations:
https://www.hrc.army.mil/content/C%20and%20R%20devices

The C and R devices are fairly new, implemented on devices on March 15, 2017 and only retroactive to January 7, 2016. They were designed to honor drone operators, cyber warfare specialists and others using technology that has an impact on the battlefield. MSG David Johnson's Army Times article below does a great job of describing the new accoutrements.

A question though, did you fly drones? The way you worded the question to me sounded as if you were in a remote location.

MSG,
Negative, I was a part of a JSOTF in support of SOCSOUTH working out of El Salvador. My team was working on an outpost near the coast

You stated the awards jacket came with no orders. Is there a certificate for the award? If so, order number should be shown bottom left of certificate - across from commander's signature.

The R is for Remote control I believe. They were talking about these devices for those who were flying Drones.

I'm looking into the same situation. I was awarded the Arcom, Jsam, and AAM in theatre in Afghanistan but was wondering how this new "C" & "R" criteria worked.

Does an award code of ACMR mean ARCOM with R device?

Sure helps to have a copy of the orders! I missed several awards due to missing orders.

What unit is the orders issuing authority? Is that unit the one that disbanded? You might try the higher HQs then.

MAJ,
It's the 85th Civil Affairs Brigade. It was the only active duty CA brigade supporting FORSCOM at the time. They have 1 BN still active but I seriously doubt any admin info was passed down to them before the shut down

SSG Daniel Aldana it’s worth making the inquiry especially considering it’s in one place without the documentation in the other. Reminds me of two times in my career suddenly seeing document appear in my file. I had an ARCOM from a command that folded. I never tried to get it into my official file. It wasn’t included in my MAJ nor LTC promotion boards. Suddenly afterward it appeared in my file. The second to the last AT I never knew I had a certificate of appreciation signed by s General until nearing retirement when I reviewed my official online record. It still makes me scratch my head?!?
Good luck getting it straightened out!
