You should receive a Commander's Intent and Mission Statement from your BN CDR, usually in the form of a Yearly Training Guidance OPORD or IDT FRAGO. Yours should nest within his/hers. As a Company Commander I wrote a monthly IDT OPORD where I published my intent and mission but there are other ways to accomplish this. Some units use "Drill Letters" or CONOPs as well. What did your predecessor use? Surely there are some legacy products and orders in existence that would have mission and intent statements.

Your Commander's Intent is probably going to change month to month, or at least on a quarterly basis. After giving this some more thought, are you possibly looking for something more along the lines of a Command Philosophy?

Appreciate the feedback. Your last statement is correct. I am really looking to create a Command Philosophy.

I have a couple examples I can send you. They're going to be combat arms oriented, but I think I have a logistics one as well I got at our pre-command course. If you send me an email on enterprise I'll push you what I have.

CPT (Join to see), I'll check with my good friend MAJ Ben Ruff. Do you have a deadline for this?

No deadline. I took command a few weeks ago and thought it would be good to issue a commander's intent / mission statement for the company. Am wondering if anyone has done something like this before and what it may have looked like?
