Hello all,

I will be doing a semester abroad at Sciences Po, the Paris Institute of Political Studies next semester and I am looking for opportunities to be able to fulfill my Army Reservist duties while overseas.

I am currently SMP in a CA unit, and wish to commission as a MI officer. Fluent in French.

My CoC is supporting me 100%. I would love to either do BA at another CA unit, or work at the US Embassy in Paris.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Cadet Green, there is 361st CA Bde in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Add me as a contact and I will give you additional information for a unit POC.

It is not that simple. There are ways, however, it must be done correctly. Drop me a note at [login to see] . Please provide some detail into your request - time frame, MOS, home unit etc

If your CoC approves you can drill lots of ways. We signed off for a contractors drills in GTMO when he worked for us for a few days, you should be able to help out the military LNO at the embassy and have them report to your commander that you were there.

I don't think you want to change units just have your drill counted.

Another option is to front or back load your drills (again with your CoC approval) work a few weeks before you leave or after you get back to meet your drill requirements.

Does anyone have a POC in Europe to allow a Cadet to perform its Army Reserve duties while abroad?

1LT (Join to see) Here is the number for the Army Reserve Retention office in Germany. They should be able to assist you in finding the correct unit over there.

Get in contact with the 361st CA BDE in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Follow the advice of SSG Garland and SGM Dawson (R). The 7th MSC has CA units.

I don't have any contacts there, but when you get n ground, you can contact the unit there to ask if they will allow you to RST. Most Commands are receptive to this. Good Luck!!

The Corps of Engineers has offices in Europe. They use temp workers, to include students from the US. We had reservists (like me) pull duty at the Europe District Office (Wiesbaden) and some of the outlying offices.
Contact the XO at the District office.

Europe is home to the 7th CSC. Look it up on the Army Reserve Command home page. There are contact numbers there. I live in Denmark and did many years service in Europe as a Reservists. When I came over they wanted boots on ground before they would assign you to a unit. Make the contact before you come over so they know you are on the way. Also get the necessary paperwork from your leaving unit, unless you are just doing temp duty on a 1380

SGM Dawson,
Thanks for the input. Indeed I will just be doing temp duty on a 1380. I certainly don't want to leave my unit...

1LT (Join to see) - The unit I was with, many times we had students RST with us. Was no big issue. Contact the 7th CSC before you get here and let them know. There are many units in different places, they will get one nearest where you're going to school. Good luck.
