Does anyone have any info on COMSEC? I'm seeking the rules regarding social media. Where can I go to look it up?

I think you mean OPSEC. COMSEC is the cryptography used to secure signals. If you're looking for the Army Social Media policy, Google will bring it up.

Agreed with SFC (Join to see) & CSM Carl Cunningham; however, I will add that even if the big Army didn't have policy, the local units could have one. Since the Army has one, the local units can add to it to make it more restrictive, if need be.

Your question is extremely vague to the point of having no meaningful answer available, because if we don't know what the heck you are actually asking, we can't possibly give you a good answer. Try spelling out by using an example, exactly what you specifically want to do or know.

Good example and well said. For OPSEC purposes you should not post specific date, time, location, MOS, and special skills all in one message or even in several separate messages. For example you could say I am reporting for BCT in Georgia on 18 Aug. That fact is vague and doesn't open you up for SAEDA attacks. That means subversion and espionage directed against the Army. However if you posted, I am reporting to BCT at Fort Gordon, GA on 18 Aug at 1400 hrs for 11B Basic Infantry Training with a follow on course in scouting. My flight leaves for Atlanta, GA at 0800 hrs from Denver, Colorado. That would be a major OPSEC violation because you told the whole world, friend and foe, every detail they would need for any type of attack. These type of facts are best left to close friends and family for face to face meetings, not social media. Now you just have to determine how much is too much information for a social media post. The less data the better is a general rule to live by. Then always beware of people known or unknown who start to play twenty questions games in an attempt to gain all the information on your reporting information. When we were told we were reporting to Iraq in 2004 we were specifically told to tell no one anything, by any means, especially date, time, location etc, etc, etc because aircraft were being shot at during take offs and landings at that local airport in Iraq. I hope this helps you out.

Thank you, SGM. That was exactly what I needed to know. I appreciate you taking the time to, not only answer my question, but thoroughly explain it. It was definitely helpful.
