I have prior commitments (family and educational) and a slow healing injury that would make it a bit difficult to attend an in-person course. This would be a good opportunity for me to attend the course and meet my other obligations.

Yes. BLC and MLC are both being offered via DL. Get with your first line leader or training/schools NCO.

SPC (Join to see) - how awesome to get direct feedback from a CSM on this question. Man, this makes me in awe of RallyPoint.

I may be wrong, but I believe that you still need to be medically green to attend, even DL versions of PME.
You mentioned an injury : are you on a temp profile? Double check with your training NCO. They may not be able to register you if that is the case

I remember seeing an email that BLC & SLC are both online currently due to COVID.
BLC is a short course, it shouldn’t take much time from your home life. But if you are concerned being gone for a couple weeks will damage your relationship, that’s a lot more discussion. There will be a lot of things the army has you do that will take you away from home for a lot longer than 2-4 weeks. As far as college goes, crush it.

I understand the army taking stuff away Chief, I have missed college before for the army and to help a fellow soldier out. I wouldn't mind the college missing so much if it wasn't labs, it's super hard to make up labs at this school. I'm just trying to help my TL out to see if anyone knows if the army is doing this and if not then give another soldier the chance to get promoted the school and I take their spot next year

I can appreciate that. Last I heard, all BLC classes were going to be virtual for the foreseeable future due to COVID.

I just had two of my Soldiers complete. It takes some discipline but it is the new normal right now. Get it SPC!

I cannot speak to other AOs, but in ARCENT, there is a virtual/remote version of BLC that is being administered due to COVID. However, to call it an online course would be a misnomer.
I had several of my Soldiers "attend" while we were deployed. Some instruction was delivered virtually by the NCOA in Kuwait, but my Soldiers were still required to attend class, conduct PT and complete assignments and exams in the presence of a proctor all while maintaining proper social distancing.

This thread is an awesome example of why we founded RallyPoint -- here you have an aspiring junior SPC asking a question and within 1 hour, you have 1SG(P), CSM, WO1, and SFC and other leaders from the Army around the world chiming in to help. I mean, how crazy is that! :-)

Thanks for the feedback. It's harder than it looks to make 2 million people happy with every feature on here. I help make my own RP experience better by unsunscribing from certain Topics (e.g. Politics, VFW) and also Unfollowing specific members whose posts kinda turn me off.

Do you have specific feedback on what should be changed about RallyPoint? Would love to read your suggestions. If you feel more comfortable sending them only to me, feel free to send them in a direct message and I will commit to replying to you there as well.

I suppose the good news for you, at this point, is that most every course is being conducted virtually. The bad news, or real news if you will, is that this is very short lived. To be brutally honest, you are simply not ready to put on the stripes if you are not ready for a little personal sacrifice. Enjoy your on line course for now and pay really close attention to that NCO Creed.

Schools NCO should be able to answer questions on BLC being online. Last I checked there is no APFT before so you’re good on that front.
Lastly the military isn’t 9-5, you’ll learn that especially as an NCO and you get called at 2 AM because Joe got DUI or needs a ride because he’s too drunk. Family sometimes is going to have to get put on the back burner if this is a career you want, ideally they’ll understand and support you. As for education, another nifty NCO trade is time management.

Even if BLC was in person right now it is not a locked down course. You will see you family every night unless you uave to travel to your course location. If your relationships suffer from you being gone for 30 days you are in the wrong line of work.

They don't suffer 1SG, poor word choice. I will rephrase my details once I figure out how to make it sound more professional. Thank you for you information
