Does prior service time continue once a new contract is signed? Can I wear all my previous awards, strips, and bars on my new ASUs?

Yes it Does eliminate That problem SFC Thomas Livingston; however, Basic does NOT provide these awards & medals. I would wear them into Basic. I found out this the ‘hard’ way & paid (in pushups & money) for my rank...even though I entered Basic as a PFC.MSG (Join to see)

Agree. However, if Drill Actually Knows of PV2 Devin Kiehn’s prior Enlistment, he could be a ‘jerk’ & write him up for being ‘out of uniform’! That actually happened to me! I went Enlisted with a BA Degree & when Drill ‘discovered’ this, I paid the price! No One informed me I had to purchase my Own Rank insignia!SSG Brian G.

Correct on the Unit Crest, unless the crest is one of a Combat Unit involved in a war! That actually makes a difference. I was TRADOC & then 2nd Armored Division(FWD)! I wore ALL when assigned to MED Hold, pending My Request for Medical Discharge.SSG Brian G.

Yes, regardless of a break in service you still put in that time and earned those awards.

Yes, you can as long as such were awarded to you or were awarded to the unit while you served with them. Awards and the like always follow you, unit to unit, enlistment to enlistment so long as you are in the same branch. There are some variations should you change service.

SPC Nancy Greene - Actually started out Delayed Entry. Mischaracterized as Active Duty when I still had a year to go in school yet. So went Reserves then found I liked it and went AD once AIT and follow ons were complete.
