Does the Air Force have any way to deal with problems like requesting mast in the corp?

Cpl Eric Reichert - I retired a few years ago so my information may be a bit dated. That being said..... I ran into a similar situation where my immediate supervisor kept denying leave requests even though I was in a use/lose situation. I started keeping records in the form of signed leave forms where he marked "denied". I then requested, in writing, an explanation of WHY my leave requests were denied. As expected, I got some BS answer of "mission first, low manning, needs me at work, blah, blah, blah" even though others were being granted leave by their supervisors. After getting the documentation I needed, I went to the unit First Sergeant and filed a formal complaint. At the end of the day, not only did I have my approved leave requests, I had a new supervisor that was much more of a mentor and teacher than the previous. It was also revealed the previous supervisor was denying leave for other Airmen as a way to exert his position of power (he thought).
Your step-son needs to create similar documentation trail. He'll need that when he presents his case to the next link in his Chain of Command. Not only that, he'll need the denied leave forms to recover any lost leave days he may encounter.

My first thought being Air Force is what is requesting mast? But seeing that it shows a group of Leave I'm assuming it is some kind of emergency leave or something. Is this correct?

Sorry, no I was a Marine. Requesting Mass was a way to use your chain of command to go higher up if you had problems with something.. My step son is in the Air Force. His unit denies his leave every time. He deploys in Oct. And requested 2 weeks anytime between now and then to move the wife and baby home. He gets denied every time. Up to losing leave at the end of each year.

Wow that is really crappy I agree with MSgt Steven Holt. I would also tell him to see if they are denying everybody leave or if it's just him. I would tell him to talk to his supervisors supervisor and work it up the chain. And make sure they don't have a leg to stand on because I remember when I was on active duty we had a guy deploying that wanted to take two weeks of leave before he left but he didn't have much of any of the stuff done that he needed to do before he deployed so they denied his leave for that reason.
