Does the Army ship HHG/UB back to you if orders get cancelled?

That is a great question for HRC and Transportation....
HRC as if you fail to complete WOBC, you will fall back to them and branch for your follow on assignment. But Transportation may have handled such a case before and know what is typical as well.

Recommend engaging your local Transportation office to get the options.

So this happened to me...If your HHG/UB get shipped and you don't PCS En Route, you can have them sent back to you. I was stationed in Germany and my orders got cancelled after my HHG were shipped to California. Your DEROS is going to have to be at least 12 months from when you are trying to get the HHG shipped back or they won't do it.

If your HHG/UB are not sent back to you, they will be put into storage. However, be prepared to be in continuous contact with the storage facility/HRC Transportation office. I had to submit an MFR ever 60 or 90 days signed by Commander stating that I was still in fact located OCONUS and was pending a PCS date.

Yes. My orders were canceled after my HHG were shipped and stored. I left them in storage for about 6 months, the max allowed after extensions. At the end of the six months they offered to return the goods to my originating station .
