The one who made the biggest impression on me in a positive way was 1st Sgt Raymond Roush of B-3-1 at Ft. Jackson in about 1968.

I have worked for very few people in my lifetime. I have mainly been self-employed. So, I will go all the way back to my military days in the 311th MI BN at the 101st ABN DIV and say SSG David Woosley. He was my last platoon sergeant. He was the only one that I had who I actually respected. He was a 3/3/ linguist. He knew his job extremely well, he took care of his troops, and he was also physically fit. He set the example while maintaining high morale.

Major General David Baldwin (currently the California Adjutant General) was my Bn Commander as an 05 and later my Department Deputy Director as an 06. Great mentor, great leader, great friend. Hate that he's so far away.

First sargeant Ski, Charley co. 5th 101st avn. He was a short barrel chested Vietnam vet. He was the one who pushed me to do armorer school, soldier of the month for co, bn and division. Air Assault and repell and load master. He sent me to train with some snipers who operated with the 160th and 5th sf. He believed in me even when I didn't at times. It was a sad day for me when he retired.

When i was fresh out of basic and just got to my first duty assignment i had this tank commander named SSG Speedy he was the best mentor i had showed me how to be the best soldier and tanker i could be.
