Earlier this month, Trump announced he is not interested in a new Air Force One; Do you think he understands why AF1 exists? Thoughts?

http://townhall.com/columnists/bryancrabtree/2016/12/12/4-billion-air-force-one-nothing-but-a-cleanenergy-ruse-n2258523

Please be respectful to each other. All opinions welcome.

I can't help but think of the blow to the economy this would create and also wonder if new technologies are part of the new aircraft. Let's try to stay on topic of this decision about Air Force One. Thank you.

He understands, just attempting to get Boeing to come back to earth with their single source supplier pricing.

MCPO Roger Collins who else would we look to to regain some competitive pricing?

Maj Kim Patterson - I don't blame Boeing for maximizing profits, we need to look inside the DOD for the reason we are taken to the cleaners. Contracts and acquisitions are the problem. If we were to see all the costs associated with change orders, it would help to understand the cost overruns.

Of course he knows, he didnt get this far by being dumb. Someone finally applying common sense with govt $$$$ and everyone loses their mind,,,,, Boeing needs to make a profit, but, a budget is a budget and how much profit do they really need??

SSG Wally Lawver regarding profit, it is outside my expertise but I think enough to keep investors happy. And this comes at a cost to those little guys at the bottom of the pyramids just trying to pay their own bills.

Maj Kim Patterson - No budget expert myself, and definetly no socialist,,, but maybe pay the CEO a few million less this year $$$$, (the salaries I hear about are a bit ridiculous) would still be able to make a few of those guys at the bottom above water:)

SSG Wally Lawver no argument from me about making the cuts from the salaries at the top. But I must wonder who us willing to go to the chopping block.

Maj Kim Patterson He is taking a business approach to this and the F35 issue - convince him of the need, then come up with a fair cost for the product. The blow to the economy will be to allow runaway costs that are rubber stamped at the DoD and Congressional venues. Expect him to get pushback from the congressional reps whose districts are impacted by his initiative. Looks a lot like he is setting up for some serious "dealing" with those folks, and not just the contractors.

SP5 (Join to see) Thank you for adding your thoughts to this thread. Rubber stamping needs to stop. Who reads the fine print on some of the bills that are signed only to find a single line item that has nothing to do with the primary purpose?
