Promotion to PFC

Not that I don't want to hear from anyone, but my son ships next week to BCT. He was promoted to E2, but I remember those going to JROTC pinning E3 before leaving. Anyone in recruiting command would be great to hear from before I engage his recruiter tmrw.

CW4 (Join to see) I can answer that. JROTC used to be E-3 for Army, but in 2013 they changed that to E-2.

The regulation has changed sir, as of right now 2 or more years of junior ROTC will get E-2.

You need 48 semester hours of college or an associates degree or two years of votactional school in order to be a PFC when you join

So, it no longer matters if they get people to join and all that...interesting.

I wanted to make sure they weren't shortchanging him or being lazy with their job. I already had issues with one SFC (not knowing I was active duty) that kept trying to blow me off when I asked a few questions.

So, minus college, the E3 rule has changed. Thanks, that will save me some headache. I appreciate your quick response MSG (Join to see)

The regulation changed a year or two ago. There are no longer any "combination" rules like there used to be in order to get to E-3.
