My fiance has decided to enlist in the national guard we went down to the recruiter and filled out all the paper work to enlist the recruiter said he would be running a background check and that it would take 3-4 days to get back he would reach out to him when he got cleared to schedule the date for him to take his MEPS he has a previous arrest it was an overnight stay with no conviction or charges that he listed in full detail in the paper work he filled out the recruiter said he had to mention it since they took his finger print and mugshot for processing at the jail. its been a week he contacted the recruiter via text the recruiter didn't respond until the next day telling him to call him "later in the afternoon to discuss what is going on" my fiance called with no answer he left a voicemail the recruiter hasn't gotten back to him his stressed out thinking worst case scenarios thinking his not returning his call because he got DQ..... would a recruiter call to let him know if his not able to join and how long does a background check take to come back ? is there anything we should do on our part to have a piece of mind he thought he would of been scheduled for ASVAB and physical by now.. does someone have more information about the enlistment process how long it take

The process can take some time. His recruiter is at the mercy of the agencies who perform the background check and the recruiter has to wait in line like all the others. While under normal circumstances, it may only take 3/4 days to get back, it will all depend on workload and the specific charges your fiance was facing when he was arrested. Relax and learn the first thing about the military, Hurry up and wait. Good luck to you both

Thank you, I’ve just been searching for info about this subject for a long time and yours is the best I have discovered till now. But, what in regards to the conclusion? Are you positive about the source?

Could try going back to the recruiting station and talking face to face with the recruiter. It’s possible the background check is taking longer because of the arrest. Or possibly talk to a different NG recruiter or different service branch recruiter to talk about options for enlistment.
