I don't know, I think most Germans will tell you at least one of their Oaths ended with the Suicide of Hitler.

Took the enlistment oath once and the oath of office three times as an officer and one additional time as a DAC. IMO it’s a lifetime commitment. As Lee Greenwood sings, “I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today”.

Yes at the end of your enlistment and that is why it is called an "Oath of Enlistment". I try not to translate Oaths into a religion myself, I don't feel it is healthy to do so.
