Facebook has a small feed telling me when and where my friends like or comment something. Does that make anyone else wonder what's next?

Facebook - making it easy to spy on people since 2003.
When you put your life on the internet, don't be surprised when it comes back to bite you.

MSgt C Madd - Stalking is when you follow a person around, call them and harass them, and generally make life miserable. Reading their facebook page that they are foolish enough to post publicly is just browsing the internet.
If you post it on the internet, it isn't private.

MSgt C Madd - A little dry this time... but I kinda figured since you voted me up. I love it when I bust Soldiers for stuff on their facebook page and they cry "Privacy!"

Not really. It's social media, so the entire point is to not live in a private bubble. It is part of the experience. As a social media professional, I constantly tell people that Facebook exists to share likes, interests, events and other parts of ourselves with the people around us, regardless of geographical distance. What you do there is, by and large, a public record so be careful what you feed it.

This is another reason to be careful of what you post on Facebook. Perception is very important and face I can very quickly distort it and prejudice others against you or give people false impressions. I.e. You take pictures of you and your friends at drinking and suddenly you are perceived as an alcoholic.
