I'm in the national guard and failed 92y AIT and getting reclass to combat engineer. I didnt sign up for a combat mos . What would happen if I refused to do that MOS? Would I be able to get out . I dont want to quit and know it's the needs of the army but I really dont want that mos .

Becoming a 92Y is one of the easiest jobs. I don’t wanna sound like a jerk but when I went through, the only people who failed where the ones who didn’t try. If you didn’t try to pass a literal open book test every week or so, maybe you should get out of the army. We wouldn’t want you as a unit supply specialist, much less as someone who we would have to rely off in combat

Sounds like you need to shoot yourself. You’re a soldier first and then your MOS..!!!

You know you joined the military and even though you don’t have a combat MOS, you may still in fact be involved in combat.
I think you need to talk to someone in the command and talk to them about that aspect of the military before you do anything stupid like miss a movement.

News flash private, all MOS's are combat MOS's. When your unit is deployed you will find yourself in positions you didn't know you would find yourself in. In Iraq we were using artillery as infantry knocking on doors and spreading the love of the USA. If you are afraid of combat you never should have joined the military. It isn't a social club.

People join thinking it’s all fun and games Chief. They want all the benefits with no intention to put in work

Hey man,
Stick through it until you reach your ETS.
The reprecussions of missing drill, ext could hurt you for the rest of your life, i.e dishonorable discharge.
Be a good soldier, utilize the education benefits at hand and complete your service.
The option to reclass is always available once you get to your unit. The NG has options for expedient MOS reclass training, so you'll be fine.
All the best!

Don't look for a discharge. See this as an opportunity to learn an extremely applicable skill set.

You would be wise NOT to take the advice of those telling you to, "...just not show up." When I was a police officer, I was tasked numerous times with serving arrest warrants on AWOL National Guard soldiers. Arrest warrants mean that we can search your home, workplace, etc. for you, and when we find you you will be wearing handcuffs as we take you to the police car to transport you to jail.
You signed a contract and took an oath. Soldier up! Go where the Army sends you, do what the Army tells you, and do it to the very best of your ability. Then, when you are old like me, you can look anyone in the eye when you tell them that you are proud of your service. Don't be a WIMP - Weak, Incompetent, Military Personnel. When you have grandchildren that you want to set an example for you will thank me for this advice. The Army's recruiting commercials used to say, "Be all that you can be!" Do just that! Show up ready and willing, and you will be surprised where it will take you.

Handcuffs and zip ties are the new thing! I see folks wearing them on TV in these riot shows. Very attractive!

Not recommended but it’s the reality also.. waiting to be discharged can take time. You are not a priority in AIT. Especially if they deem you a shit bag. You can just sit there on hold and waiting on review doing details. SSgt Joseph Baptist
