This video was sent to us by a lady out of the Reno, Nevada area. This guy was walking around pretending he was a Marine. When asked for his name he responded that, "He was on High Alert, and couldn't give that out."
He then said he was a member of the 3rd Battalion, 26th Marines, which have been deactivated sine 1970. The Marines do have a 26th MEU(Marine Expeditionary Unit), but it doesn't have a 3rd Battalion.
He was trying to get a discount on or a free venue for his wedding using the claims.

Colonel, I noticed also the position of attention, that sure didn't come out of the Drills and ceremonies manual of any branch of the service. His thumbs are nowhere near the seams of His trouser and arms out too far. That spells no prior military service ever. A few people here felt He may have metal problems, that may well be true.

Although I agree that the lady was a bit over the top, I don't take lightly to people wearing MY uniform when not authorized, and we should never be "soft", and tolerant of it. The lady was probably not a mental health expert, and she is well within her rights to make it known to this man, or any other how she feels. If you see ANYONE in a public place with Marine camouflage utilities on, it's probably not authorized. Marines don't wear that uniform in public. It's a work/combat uniform, and shouldn't be worn in shopping malls and airports. We (all branches) should present a sharp, military appearance to the public, and protect that image at all times.

I couldn’t listen to the whole video. The mouth on the woman is horrible. Anyone that can’t speak without profanity is just useless to me. The whole thing is just irritating to listen to especially when she never spent a day in the military. Pick your battles wisely lady.

That goofy foul mouthed woman is just as crazy as he is. One thing these stolen valor Crusader Rabbits need to remember is that some of these dudes may be dangerous, so when you get on your high horse about your service, blah, blah, blah, try to pick a fight, and the nut bucket pulls a knife or gun on you, don't say you haven't been warned.

I usually walk away after a brief conversation. We can tell. It doesn't matter the branch Vets talk different to each other. Once I realize the person is full of shit I just walk away. I'm not big on Stolen Valor. You have to have it or not. I'm just a grumpy old Grunt, I don't have valor to brag about. No medals that are valorious. I just respect my brothers and sisters that took the Oath. I really don't bother with posers. I do however wish I still had a set of BDU's for hunting, realtree sux.

The way i look at it imitation is the sincerest form of flattery on
did you or did you not bleed have our brothers and sisters givwn it all so a person can wear whatever clothing they want to wear for whatever reason they want. Yes thwy exploit our discounts but you know what. So what who cares now getting bennifits is a different story. But billy bob walking the fair to get looks and 10% off i mean really. We are soldiers sailors Marines airman and coasties do we really need to worry about a poser wearing a uniform. Go after the guy getting va that forged paperwork go after the ones taking jobs from veterans not the ones getting. Fifteen cents off their coffee

As sick as this perp may appear and actually be, he should not be let off the hook and not held accountable for his behavior. I would hesitate to show him any slack. The woman was well within her rights, IMO, to call him out, and at least get a better picture of his mental state in doing so.

Capt Tom Brown - He is a little off. My sense is he is a special needs patient who hasn't served in the military - but while he may be unable to care for himself in many ways - at least both he and the uniform appear to be clean and tidy. Maybe he bought this at some war surplus store. In any case, he turns at an angle, from her, bows his head, and repeats a mantra he hopes may make the woman in this instance stop her verbal exchange. He appears unable to do any better - no anger - no argument - just some memorized mantra he hopes will bring an end to the dialogue. There is a difference between people who are mentally challenged and/or impaired vs those who have the capacity to differentiate right from wrong. I personally believe stolen valor requires some element of competence to understand what they are doing is wrong. At some level, I don't believe this fellow really understands the persistent accusations. He may need mental health care - but given his overall appearance it seems like he may at least be getting some kind of assistance in that department. This feels like berating a kid who wears the uniform for halloween. I would ask who is providing his care - where is your mommy - and have a talk with his care provider. Warmest Regards, Sandy :)
Wow that was insane... That poor guy probably has m=nothing more in his world than this fantasy. I do know that indulging fantasy is not a good idea but, you could do a lot worse for this guy than just indulging him for a little bit. Look at how this woman who herself never served treated this man who as many have pointed out is most definitely Mentally Impaired.. Everything in this Country seems to be a huge cluster. Instead of trying to help this guy who obviously needs it like Sgt. Rainwater attempted to do and he ACTUALLY served unlike this woman...
