So, they are going to open up Combat Arms to females. The two females to pass Ranger School only concreted that. So let me ask: Is this a good idea, or not? Combat Arms, I can understand, provided some changes are made in regards to the outlook of the Army today. But what about Special Operations? Should women be integrated into the elite, covert, and secretive brotherhood that is CAG and SF? My personal opinion is that Special Forces should remain a no-go. Combat Arms however, I can accept, provided that changes be made as far as the viewpoint of women vs men. Ever seen Starship Troopers? If they made OSUT the way it is in that movie, where gender was a non-issue, and the female form was a commonplace thing, then I believe it would cease to be an issue, in regards to SHARP and EO. However, the first few years, the numbers of complaints and crimes will rise. That's a given, and anyone who says otherwise is naive. But in the long run, would that be worth it, to fully integrate women into the Combat Arms (more specifically, the Infantry)?

I whole heartedly believe that if a person can make it through a program, they deserve to be there. I do not believe that the standards for that program should be changed to accommodate anyone though. If someone were to enter my MOS, all I care about is that they can drag me, or my battles, if we were to get hit. With that all being said, if women were to be allowed into the combat arms MOS', would women across the United States, ages 18-35, be required to sign up for selective service as well? If we're going to get rid of the gender separation in our military, we need to get rid of it altogether.
