I LOVE Oakley, you can get prescription lenses for their frames, and I've used Oakleys for military duties, to include during my APFTs, as well as 5K races. And as far as I can tell, they are all ballistic grade lenses, so if your frames meet AR 670-1, and you aren't required to wear issued frames, then you're good to go.

I'm different. I wore Maui Jim wraparounds for years, till they grew legs in tent city in Kuwait and disappeared.
Now i wear Ironman Triathlon Empower (the closest i'll get to a triathlon). Found them in the candy aisle at Walmart, someone didn't want them i guess. They were $15 so i figured, why not? They do the job when i'm out and about and mountain biking.

I have always preferred Oakley. I have ventured out plenty to try new sunglasses for different activities. Oakley is so prominent that they are able to get alot of feedback and adapt accordingly. I only purchase the from http://www.standardissue.com . It is basically throwing away money if you buy them from a store in the mall.

SSG (Join to see) - I'm assuming this means the entire site gives discounts for Veterans and LEO status. Correct ?

Yes. They are permanently reduced prices for all of the above. It used to be an annual renewal with your ID card and such but over the last few years they have improved it. You register once with your ID Card and it is good for life for service members and Vets. I have been buying through them for probably 10 years. (There are other ways to register than just an ID card, but I do not remember what other ways. It has been a long time since I have had to do it.
