Finishing up a year long school, was told that being a reservist I have to sell my leave. Has anyone come across this before when reclassing?

You either have to sell the leave, or get your orders extended in order to use the leave. When I came back from Afghanistan, I had my orders extended in order to use the accrued leave so I still got paid while I traveled around to see friends and family. I would probably do the same thing if I ever got deployed again. It's better than selling back the leave, because selling it you only get basic pay....using it you get paid including allowances....

Once you end active duty and return to the Reserves. what good is the leave? Sell it, take the money and enjoy.

It's not just about keeping the leave. It also involves who you want to process the leave i.e. if the finance office you're using is unreliable do you return to Reserve status and play telephone/e-mail games with an office 10 hrs away or do you wait till you get your unit and have them process it for you? I've seen a school tell everyone they have to sell it back immediately but as soon as I called my unit I am told that doesn't sound right, we sold back someone else's leave for them.
