For anyone who recently transferred guard to army active, did you get to keep your sergeant rank?

The recruiter told me I would because I've been in for five years but I don't go to BLC (WLC) until July and we all know recruiters like to fib

I am not a recruiter, but from what I can tell, your MOS is not identified in the current business rules, and you do not meet the NCOES requirement for E-5, as you have not completed BLC yet. So according to the current business rules (http://m.goarmy.com/careers-and-jobs/current-and-prior-service/continue-serving/active-duty/prior-service-business-rules.m.html), I would probably guess that The recruiter is planning on you reclassing. I would read that contract very carefully.

SFC(P) (Join to see) - Personally, I would definitely complete BLC before I thought about going active, because the business rules are pretty clear about NCOES. Check out that link in my post. My recommendation is to read it thoroughly and then talk it over with your recruiter and your NCO Support Channel and S-1. If you know what you're talking about when you discuss the business rules with the recruiter, you'll feel much more comfortable. And your unit will always have your best interests in mind when it comes to going active. Have you considered the AGR program?

SFC(P) (Join to see) - I considered going back on AD when I was a CPL, right before I pinned SGT, and I would have ended up a slick sleeve SPC at Ft. Bragg in 2014 if I had done it. I am AGR now, and I'm going to the board next month. So I would definitely say that weighing all of your options will always be your best bet.

SFC(P) (Join to see) - AGR isn't like that in the USAR. Like I said. Look at all options. If you were to transfer to the USAR, then you could try that way. Another option is mobilization. I don't know if it's the same in the NG, but if it is, look into https://mobcop.army.mil
Individual Soldier Orders Viewer. Active and Reserve Component Soldiers can view and download TCS and COADOS orders from this webpage as a consolidated location for all deployment and mobilization related orders produced in DAMPS systems. Login using your AKO username or CAC.

When you do change to active, just ensure that it is in writing in your contract.

A friend of mine had 15 years active, was a reservist on a CONUS mob got promoted to SFC, talked with a recruiter about going back active and they would only take him if he would drop a rank to SSG, not sure if MOS had anything to do with it or what, but he refused to go, I would have dropped the rank in an instant since he only needed 5 more years to get a full retirement.

SFC(P) (Join to see) Prior Service enlistment's are always changing look at the USAREC messages and I would also recommend going to the AR. AR 601-210.
