You can catch the Freedom flight to Bliss on weekends if there is space, there usually is this will get you to Bliss from there you have to buy your own ticket. as for the policy it will depend on the unit you are going to, just like anywhere else. And I cannot remember the last time there was an R&R offered in Kuwait.

If you are going to Kuwait as a duty assignment, you will be allowed to take leave.

This will be dependent on how long your deployment to Kuwait is. If your deployment is less than 12 months, more than likely you will not receive R&R leave. The Army has changed its R&R policy, when it changed the length of deployments.

I know when we deployed they changed it to 9 months and did away with the leave portion, my buddy had just returned from a year deployment and did a year and got the leave.

SFC (Join to see) - If it is a year, you're looking at taking R&R after your unit has been in country after about four months (this is dependent on what higher ups decide); however, R&R will have to be completed at least 30-60 prior to the unit returning to the states. The R&R leave is paid for by the Army, and it is to ANY location you decide to go to. Furthermore, it depends on where you go that an extra S2 brief may be required.
