SGT Dave Tracy, do you mind sharing what you envision or your personal experience with a "Vet friendly" school?

I enrolled last year in the MBA program at the Carlson School at the University of Minnesota. While not Harvard, they have a solid academic reputation, and have designed their program to be highly flexible with multiple class offerings in traditional, condensed, in person or online options.

The MBA program itself has a veteran liaison position--currently a former Naval officer pursuing his PHD--who works with vets and service members interested in or already enrolled in the program. In addition the school has an endowment specifically for veterans; though it's primary beneficiaries are fulltime students. And while their outreach efforts to attract current and former military may not be as polished and efficient as I think it could be, the school is genuinely interested in bringing in veterans. That's what I see as the difference between talking the talk--the lip-service often heard about "supporting" vets/the military--and walking the walk by turning words into actions.

To be honest, were it not for their desire to attract vets, I may not have considered the school; and even if I had, I may not made the cut and been admitted.

Sgt Aaron Shaw:
When I was researching schools: so that I could achieve my M.A.- I was interested in majoring in Human Behavior.
To this day, I would love to be a psychiatrist.
I hope and pray that your day is going very well, Sergeant.
-Most Sincerely, Margaret C. Higgins U.S. Army (Ret.), coach/photographer

For those that are interested in graduate management programs, what are some items on your wish list when researching schools?

I would look at salary data for recently graduated classes. Schools have this data and often make it available.
