For those who received the Purple Heart, what would you say to the public if asked to speak on the subject?

Sgt Franklin B. - I must have misread the question; I read if you were asked to speak to the public what would you say. Therefore Misreading the question. I can't say how it would mean to me receiving the Purple Heart as I have never received that award.

You can help me by answering a question I have. When seeing a service member with a Purple Heart ribbon what go's through your mine?

Sgt Franklin B. - First in my mind I would be thinking what happened that they received the award. I would hope that they have made a full recovery from their wounds. But to me those questions would be inappropriate to ask. I would want that soldier on my Team or Squad in combat, the fact that they will not let the same situation happen again. As well they would be able to comfort other SM's wounded, as they have already been through being wounded. Just my thought.

I got it. And would say it hurt like a bitch. But with the Call of Duty generation. There is no respawn site in combat.

SFC (Verify To See) - yeah the first one hurt like a bitch. Get to see the scar everyday. The second was total BS. More like an accident. But it did burn the crap out of me. Good thing hair grows back.

A lot of the recipients I have seen are extremely humble on the subject. If I were to win a medal of that magnitude I think I would just let others know it was for doing my job as trained.
