This is purely about your preference. I'm not trying to be political, necessarily, I'm purely trying to understand the Socialist mindset and ideology. So, you will likely see other questions like this from me, because I'm trying to understand both sides of the issues.

Thank you in advance for your responses!

I would rather be left alone. I don't need the government telling me what light bulbs I must buy, how big a soft drink I may purchase, or who may go into which bathroom, locker room, or showers. Or what medical insurance I must buy.

The government’s function is to provide for the national defense, infrastructure, law enforcement, and then they should get out of the way to the greatest extent possible.

Under our Constitution the people control the government – not the other way around.

SGT Edward Wilcox, these are essential things that the individual is unable to provide for himself - it takes a government.

MSG Christopher Chouinard, it would be nice if more people remembered that.

MSG Christopher Chouinard, the left has infiltrated the schools and do not teach traditional values anymore - they are more into political indoctrination of the children from the earliest grades through college.

MSG Christopher Chouinard, I went to our church school too, and I know what you mean. The liberal/progressive ideology is opposed to our traditional society and is trying to transform it to suit their own perspective of the world.

Leave me alone. Let me pursue my own life (my own happiness). Individual liberty, and the responsibility that goes along with it, are what I desire.

Top simplistic. If you are looking for pros and cons of Socialism, that should be the question. Your two choices are not actually two choices. Everyone will take be left alone, unless they are masochists.

I was simply trying to break this down "Barney style" so that it gets to the very core of who someone is.

I started with the same Hypothesis, that nearly everyone would say, "Be Left Alone". However, I can't go on from there until I have conclusive evidence that my assumption is correct.

I disagree. A large segment of the American population is showing a decided preference for surrendering individual liberty for the apparent comfort and security of servitude. They accept the decisions of others in exchange for freedom from responsibility. If someone else makes a bad decision, blame them. They are not masochists. They are simply cowards.
