Hey there everyone,

I joined the reserves back in 2011ish and went thru basic and ait with no issues. When I got back home I wasn't able to find a job and didn't have a car. I'm not using that as an excuse just stating it because I'm trying to be up front about the story. I realize it was my responsibility and I failed. I got discharged due to not being able to attend drill at my station which was close to 2 hours away and couldn't get transferred to a closer unit because they didn't have spots for my mos.

I recently got my DD214 in the mail that shows a general under honorable conditions discharge but the RE-code is NA. I can't find much information about this online. I found one thread mentioning officers but I wasn't one. I've been looking into rejoining now as I loved the structure of the military and have matured and come a long way over the last 7 years. Does anyone know what the N/A code means?

I have talked to a recruiter who tried to pull a red report but I believe they said it was showing the same thing. They sent in through email to get my 214 (this was before mine came in the mail after requesting it). I do plan to contact them tomorrow I was just hoping someone here could give me some insight if possible

It's just a little bit of confusion. A DD214 is only for active service. Your 214 is for your basic and AIT portion. It has an NA because you weren't discharged, you were still in the Reserves.

Only the recruiters can work this out with you. Now, I’ve been out of the recruiting loop for quite some time but not having a RE code is waaaaayyyyyy much better than having one!!!!!!

PFC (Join to see) - How did your re-enlistment work out? I have been considering re-joining but I also have ZZ on my REDD report and no DD-214 or RE code, just separation orders from the Reserves (Honorable Discharge).

Military Board of Corrections for discharge upgrades.... Remember recruiters get kudos for bringing people in and they're not gonna waste their time if they believe you cannot.

Look through these...I know VA has what are termed traveling teams that go to.regional.ofcs, the VAROs, around the country, we had to go.to one by us for the Board of Veterans Appeals (BVA), to.see one of the traveling ALJs, admin judge, about my whole total perm.disability thing...I'd read that, with good character, or so I'd seen, I think, since discharge, that discharges can, I "think", be uograded, "maybe", though we hadn't needed to look into that...honestly, I'd ask all.three Congress local.ofc mil/vet staffs for.you, send them Privacy Act (PA) releases,.with your DD214, also, to on the NPRC eVetRecs Java applet site, send in a request to NPRC, sign and date the printout, or NPRC can't process it, call 86-NARA-NARA, the Natl.Archives, look up the NARA leadership page, you'll see the NPRC director,.ask the NARA leadership.staff and the Congress mil/vet staffers.to.get the NPRC.director staff to call you back, they're quite helpful, we've gone to them many times, and have them look up the meaning of the N/A...trust me, all of that, esp submitting to the discharge revw board (DRB), I'd you haven't yet, could be well.worth the effort, your need a vet group, a law.school vet.law.clinic or a NOVA attorney, ill.send the NOVA stuff in a moment, they mainly at NOVA do VA disability, however, they're the top of VA law food.chain in the US aside from the vet groups and law school.vet.law.clinics, we used a vet group.and a NOVA guy for my stuff, the NOVA guy cost $500 for the consult, the best money we ever soent, he's one reason my wife and I learned there's a very real.reason God invented lawyers, honest, I'd you wanna yak more, just lemme know, no rush, whenever you want, OK?
