The job will entail all aspects of building and servicing the supercharger we manufacture at our shop in Stevensville Mi. The job requires mechanical aptitude and basic knowledge of tools. Training is provided for the job to assure the product is built to our high quality standards. Shop Electrician/Control Panel Builder – Entry Level for its Warren, MI global headquarters. This is a great opportunity to learn and grow with a solid company.

Hourly pay for the position ranges from $16.00 to $18.00, depending on experience.

PURPOSE

The Shop Electrician/Panel Builder is responsible for the physical assembly and wiring of industrial control panels, as well as wiring on machines and general electrical work.

The Shop Electrician/Panel Builder will build panels to print, including laying out and physically mounting devices to back panels, wiring per print and testing the panel to ensure that panels are built according to plan documents.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Shop Electrician/Panel Builder position is an entry-level position and will work closely with the controls engineering to perform the following tasks:

• Wire and build to order electrical control panels, junction boxes and install components, units, subassemblies and wiring.
• Read and interpret schematic drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders, bills of material, handwritten notes or verbal instructions to determine materials requirements or assembly instructions.
• Fabricate or form parts and structures according to specifications using drills, calipers, cutters or saws.
• Utilize hand tools such as wire strippers, crimpers, wrenches, screwdrivers and pliers.
• Install wire tray and cable management systems, as well as bend and install conduit.
• Pull wires, harnesses and route cabling, pneumatic tubing, hydraulic and coolant piping.
• Complete point-to-point wiring and install a wide variety of electronic components including PLCs, relays, lights, switches, etc.
• Adjust, repair or replace electrical or electronic component parts to correct defects and to ensure conformance to specifications.
• Drill or tap holes in specified equipment locations to mount control units or to provide openings for components, wiring, or instruments.
• Work with minimal supervision once work assignments are given and explained. Ask questions to obtain sufficient instruction to perform assigned tasks.
• Mark up drawings and bills of material to document the “as built” final product.
• Perform necessary hand operation such as deburring, grinding and sawing.
• Operate hand pallet jacks/powered lift vehicles to move material within plant.
• Install finished assemblies or subassemblies in cabinets.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
• Communicate any changes on procedure or assembly structure to engineering in order to ensure complete and correct engineering documentation.
• Other tasks as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of electrical wiring experience desirable, but not required.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics desirable, but not required.
• Electrical and mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, communication skills and basic math skills required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Prolonged work on the production floor, extended time spend standing, squatting, kneeling, etc.
• Must have physical and mechanical skills to strip, crimp and terminate wires.
• Must be able to lift to 50 pounds.
• Ability to distinguish color is necessary.
• Weekends and night shifts as needed.
