This was a really good read. I personally didn't know the man, but after reading his reflection on his career, I think it would've been a honor to have served under him. And I share his love for being a Soldier, problem is, being a Soldier never ends. It's something that's as much a part of you as your own skin.

SSG Warren Swan thanks for the introspective article from Gen Jacoby view, it's a celebration he lived it and earned it. What a career speech in retrospective to being a Soldier. I can truly relate.

Thanks for reading it SFC! A Soldiers life is never over, and a NCO's job is never done even when the uniform is hung in the closet.

SSG Warren Swan those are some strong words and are embedded in my SOUL, how could you ever say your not a Soldier for life.

I can fully understand when he says "I loved being a Soldier." For 30 years, I was honored to be able to say that even though my career did not go as planned. Even though I still work for the Army as a civilian in an ROTC program, nothing will ever replace putting on the uniform. I do think that one of the lessons from what he wrote is that when careers do not go as planned, we still have the duty to perform to our best.

I thought it was a honest take on his career. Not an officer, so I didn't know all the in's and out's, but he didn't fluff anything and he gave credit to his wife. I think more troops need to reflect on that, and the importance of family on their careers
