Robot is probably not completely accurate.  EOD robots and UAVs are still controlled by humans.  A robot has a certain amount of artificial intelligence but still requires human interaction.

SSG Burns, the number of soldiers that get replaced will be equal to the number of new soldiers needed to PMCS and repair those beasts.  Maintainers for the win!

Interesting video.  I'm not sure about the timeline, but if you think about the advancements we've made in aviation by removing pilots from cockpits in UAV's, then why can't we remove soldiers from the battlefield of the future.

The timeline is sound.  The mandate was actually established several years ago and we already have tens of thousands of systems already implemented into the force structure and have been budgeting decent amounts of money for the systems' acquisition over the years starting about 2004.

I foresee that once we hit that benchmark, they will probably push for even more of a percentage of the force to be unmanned.  That's not to say that we will ever fully go unmanned, but I'm sure, given more time, more and more of the force will lean in that direction.  You will always need humans in the combat zone to do certain things.
