Getting mixed answers on being reimbursed for a PTDY to pick up my car following an OCONUS -> CONUS PCS. Any clarifying advice on this?

Top has told me the mileage will be reimbursed and finance said it was good to go due to it being linked to my PCS. Just got off the phone with DFAS and they told me it wasn't covered because I got free leave out of it.

Permissive TDY is not free leave, it is time provided by the military to compensate for travel related requirements. Go see your S1. There may very well be circumstances that you were not authorized to pick up the car on the Army’s dime. We don’t have enough info to help you determine that. Thank you for your service.

Sounds like you got connected to a know it all, that didn't. PTDY says it all... TD Temporary Duty. You are not on leave. You are on temporary duty to accomplish a task. Go forth once more young soldier and seek. Try to avoid the knucklehead this time.
