Of course you know @SSGT LARRY OLSON that you are goating me into this conversation with the "too girly" comment :-) As we say, "They're ACTION FIGURES, not dolls". I've had everything from the green plastic Army men on up. Remember the "Guns of Navarone" moutain playset and it's Sears equivalent the "Iwo Jima" playset with all the vehicles, etc., had'em both. Then I graduated to 12" action figures. Could not get into the smaller 3 3/4 " ones. Now as many of you know I have a 1/2 a garage devoted to my GI Joe and military action figure passion.

Had 'em all! The little green Army men by the 100s, and GI Joes with lots of accessories. There were some major battles fought in my back yard and there is probably still a battalions worth of them buried throughout the yard that had been lost over the years!

SSgt (Join to see) , there is probably even more than one (unintentional) mass grave back there. I also had to bury one of my GI Joes that lost a battle with the lawnmower! He did put up a valiant fight though! If memory serves, my dad had to replace the blade on the mower! LOL!

I was a mixed up little girl. I had toy soldiers and GI Joes. I would conduct regular raids on Barbie's fortress.

I remember all the advertisements in the back of the comic books with BIG battles raging and pillboxes opening up on the beaches. You could buy the entire set and it came delivered in a footlocker. I always wish I had the $1.95 (back then NOTHING was $19.99). Anyone know the ads I am referring to? Anyone ever get it? I WANT TO PLAY!!!!!!

Sometimes the enemy unleashes the WMDs. War is Hell. I had some that had BB's stuck in their chests. They deserved a humane death ray.

Both, but the good GI Joes. The ones that could have the traumatic amputations...if you are old enough, you know which ones I am talking about.

I think half of mine wound up with missing legs and hands, but they hung in there.

SSgt (Join to see), I remember those green Army men very well. My twin brother and I played with them quite a lot. That was in the 1960s. I think we probably couldn't afford G.I. Joe, but we had a lot of fun playing with the smaller figures.
Thanks for this topic and for bringing back some good memories (faint, distant memories, but good all the same).

And all for $1.98. Of course, giant soft pretzels on Wednesday were a dime and that was my allowance.

SFC Mark Merino - I hear you man. I remember playing in the backyard with horny toads, stink bugs and ant lions. I would put ants in with the ant lions. lol. I watched the tad poles grow into frogs and had a lot of fun being a boy.
