Given the reliability of Glock pistols as well as being so easy to maintain, should the US military adopt Glock 17 Gen 3 or 4 for service?

I can see the glock "safe action trigger" not really qualifying as a safety feature and leading to a lot of negligent discharges.

It's on the operator to keep their booger hook off the bang switch until needed. However, the safe action trigger is truly a safety in that the trigger won't fire unless the safety piece has been pressed. I really think that Glocks do offer a lot in terms of reliability and ease of use.

True it is up to the operator to keep their Finger off the trigger but too many people in the military have not ever handled a firearm before in their life, and. To top it off, most non-combat arms unit will only shoot once a year just to qualify. Every military range I have ever shot at all say, "move the selector from safe to fire, and fire when ready." Can't do that with a glock which would have a high probability of negligent discharges at the range
