Capt. Kristen Griest and 1st Lt. Shaye Haver pinned on their Ranger Tabs Friday, officially making history as the first women to earn the coveted black and gold tab.

Griest, Haver and 94 of their male classmates were celebrated during a graduation ceremony on Victory Pond at Fort Benning, Georgia.

The group, Ranger Class 08-15, will “surely go down in history for many reasons,” said Command Sgt. Maj. Curtis Arnold, the senior enlisted soldier for the Airborne and Training Brigade.

I'd welcome them in any formation with me and gladly go to war with any of these graduates! Congratulations to all and especially for these two warriors for having the internal fortitude to not quit!

I respect the intent of the post, however, the image you posted is the Ranger Regiment and has nothing to do with these 2 Soldiers graduating Ranger school at the Airborne and Ranger Training Brigade (ARTB)

I am incredibly proud of CPT Griest and 1LT Haver!!! I have the utmost admiration and respect for anyone who graduates Ranger School, and the fact that they did so in the face of a great deal of opposition speaks volumes about their courage, drive, and intestinal fortitude. They are now heroes to so many female Soldiers, myself included. They changed how we female SMs view ourselves and our value as warriors. We truly have no limits if we are have the necessary grit, drive, discipline, poise, and toughness. If we want the coveted black and gold, it's all about personal initiative and the willingness to make the necessary sacrifices to train with utmost intensity and purpose.

Yes Ma'am, and these women have all of those things. Hooray, for them. Next step is Special Forces. I think they will do fine.
