The DoD has just announced that they are sending letters to over 1,100 CPTs (most of them currently deployed in Afghanistan) saying that they will be retired/released after their deployment. Does that seem tacky and callous to receive a letter while you are fighting for your country and your life?

Downsizing the force via troops in combat zones?
I just came across this article and found it interesting. I would think that they would stray away from those that are deployed so as to not disrupt combat operations. What are your thoughts?
