Has a dangerous precedence been set in the case of Bowe Bergdahl?

President Obama bypassed the Congress when he decided to trade 5 high ranking Taliban detainees for a soldier who may or may not be a deserter at worst and AWOL in the best case scenario. What do the rest of you have to say about this?

In weighing the swap, U.S. officials decided that it could help the effort to reach reconciliation with the Taliban, which the U.S. sees as key to more security in Afghanistan. But they acknowledged the risk that the deal would embolden insurgents.Republicans pressed that point. "Have we just put a price on other U.S. soldiers?" asked Senator Ted Cruz of Texas. "What does this tell terrorists, that if you capture a U.S. soldier, you can trade that soldier for five terrorists?"Republican Representative Adam Kinzinger of Illinois said, "I'm going to celebrate him coming home," but added that the release of "five mid- to high-level Taliban is shocking to me, especially without coming to Congress."

As far as his guilt or innocence, that is for the Army to decide, not me. After reading about the so called prisoner swap, there were other options that were in play before the prisoner swap. At one time the US was going to pay a ransom.
I am not sure about the precedence here any more, however, why in the hell was there five prisoners released for one American prisoner. even more frustrating, the five released were all high risk prisoners. One report calls the the fab five of the terror cell they are associated with.
That is what is dangerous about this. The administration is dumber than I thought if they think five of the worst of the Taliban is going to be good boys and do as they are told for a year. Bull crap. These terrorists will fall off the map before the scandal in Washington over this gets fully heated, and from what I seen, it is cooking fast.
Bottom line, this was the mother of all stupidity by the administration.
