plenty of eating plans advocate for the removal of sugars from the diet. Some will allow for fruits some even for types of alcohol like red wine. What was your motivation for removing sugar from your diet and what where the results?

I have drastically decreased my sugar, but not eliminated it. This is not the only thing I am doing, but I can tell you the result. I have less fatigue after eating, more energy when I eat other quality foods, sleep a little better, and improved cognition. I still have some sugar, but I replaced what was in my coffee with stevia. Most of the rest I cut out by paying attention to ingredients. The brain needs sugar, but not processed sugar, so I try to keep up on vegetables and a little whole fruit, but very little juice. Chinese yams are a great source of energy and very low glycemic index.

MAJ Charles Blake - What do you mean?

SFC (Join to see) - you mentioned glycemic index; do you follow that as a rule/guide or did you reduce sugar for other reasons?

MAJ Charles Blake - Ah. I am a Chinese medicine practitioner intern. It is also one of our herbs, but you can buy it fresh in the grocery. I buy it because of a pattern I have in Chinese medicine associated with kidneys, pancreas, and spleen. My husband studies western nutrition and he became very impressed. I don't follow GI as a rule, but I am starting to pay more attention to it because I have family with type 2 diabetes, and I am 40 now, have done a lot hard on my body and endocrine system over the years. I thought it would be a real good food to add. The problem is it takes a bit of getting used to the texture.

SFC (Join to see) Awesome answer and personal share. Spot on.
when i got to 396 # i decided to do something...
First was elimination of all sweetened Drinks Mt Dew... Sweetened Tea... Cokes etc...
next was elimination of all presweetened cereals for Breakfast
the first 90 days 37 pounds gone...
Second get out and Walk... Just walk short distances at first then more as you get stronger and Faster
Third Restrict amount of Processed Sugars... Breads presweetened Foods
This took another 20 Lbs off
Then Cut Back on all the Booze with high amounts of Sugars in them... The Schnapps type The Sweet Bourbons and High Calorie Beers like Stouts and Dark Beers and Ale's or Really Heavy lager beers...
But Be Careful of the Diet Drinks and Artificial Sweeteners ... The body will become dependent on them and convert it to something like sugars and the amount of Sodium is almost Criminal... and will sky rocket you Blood Pressure...

SFC George Smith wow, that's quite a story/testimony. thanks for sharing and motivating. I've long been convinced that diet drinks are from the devil but I have not looked much as sodium. thanks for sharing your story. DOL

Almost all those foods you mention have High Fruitose Corn Syrup (HFCS). You can still drink a Coke made with cane sugar and it is a LOT better for you than one made with HFCS. Definitely look at ingredients on all food HFCS is everywhere like some kind of new drug the food industry is trying to hook you on. I have seen it in Ketchup, Bread, Soda, Cereal, etc.

SFC Most dietitians are against diet drinks. They told me Yhat they are worse on a person than regular soda.
