The Mission of the Marine Corps; from Marine.com.

OUR PURPOSE

Missions have changed over the years, but what has remained constant since November 10, 1775 is our unyielding commitment to protecting the lives of our citizens and the interests of our nation. Our purpose, by congressional mandate, is to be this nation's rapid response force; we are thus called to be "most ready when the nation is least ready." From humanitarian relief efforts to combat operations; from air, land and sea to every clime and place, the Marine Corps is ready to answer our nation's call."

The focus should be on accomplishing the mission...in every clime.

Semper Fidelis brothers and sisters!

Yes by far, Marines are meant to kill the enemy, this politically correct crap gets in the way and makes that task harder.

No; If they want to be equal the lines must be removed the standard haarder on both equal means equal. the corp "ain't No country Club" we are paid to fight and die if women want the right they are entitled to join men at a mans level. Combat ain't gender neutral both sexes die but marines no matter what hardware you pack are Marines and all should be held to the highest standard. Hell W.M.'s have bigger balls than most Civilian Corporate Execs - why because Marines are volunteers male and female - erasing the lines and going neutral by law is what we already speak! It will weed out the "girly girls" both male and female and we will finally be one Corps.

Yes. Erasing the word man from any job title is stupid. Soon we won't even be allowed to be called humans because someone claims offense and wants to be known as a huperson.

I don't know. Have they dropped "Looking for a few good men" from their recruiting liturgy?

Renaming titles of MOS's seems like a pretty minor/non-issue

The Navy Dept feels it's necessary because no longer will Marines in some MOS's be all male. It's true that nothing is done without cost but the cost of changing an MOS title or the OCP sleeve policy is negligible and will have no effect on larger readiness policy issues like USMC aircraft.

SSG I would think there is more than just a little paperwork to be changed. Money taken from the primary mission is money going to something not ass importment as the mission. Washington has tons of paperwork just as all federal agencies. It adds up fast. The services barely have enough money to operate now. In a war we justt might get out butts kicked, but if we didn't we probaby lose a lot of people. All the social engineering is not helping the fighting ability of the armed forces. i hate to even say that but i hear to many in Congress talk about the cuts in military money.

The MOS I had I could not see a women doing! There were times when we did not come out of the field for a week at a time. Plus the work we did everything was heavy so I really could not see a women trying to help one of these up to attach to the truck.

What happened to uniformity of body, mind, and thought? It seems we are breaking down everything that makes us who we are and destroying our uniformity, simply to be inclusive to small groups who are NOT held to the same standards.

For instance, here is a quote from the Marine Corps Times article about the new PFT standards:

===
McGuire said it was because the Marine Corps didn't "want to create a manpower problem by having some female Marines failing."
===

This is highly offensive to me. They should have simply eliminated the female PFT rather than create alternative options so that females could not fail. That is a serious lowering of standards. A female grunt has a physical standard less than half what males are expected. If a female in a males billet cannot complete the same PFT, they absolutely deserve to fail. Where is the uniformity?

In the 1970's, I had no ideal what the Marine Corps were about coming out of high school, I went into the Marine Corps by default, the Army Recruiter were never in his office in which I had plan to join. Upon being lied to by the Marine Recruiter on several different questions, "one rumor I had heard is that the Marine Corps D.I.s would kick you up the tail, the recruiter said no. The first thing I saw were a D.I.'s shiny boots kicking recruits up the rear at "Parris Island." Also the Marine Corps had a prison choice program with civilians Courts, where a Judge could order you to serve your time in prison in the Marine Corps. If the Marine Corps training program would have stayed the same, we would be having these problems today. Years ago if you told someone you had enlisted in the Marine Corps, they would look at you like you were crazy. When you lower standards anyone can be a Marine.

LCPL That's bad too. I visited a Marine base once on official business. The Marines I met and did business with were great. Most were SNCO's but I enjoyed the day.

Yes it has. It weakens the effectiveness of the entire force (platoon) when other platoon members have to think to interact, especially in combat situations. You simply can not have liberal weirdness infecting the USMC ranks. It is dangerous at this precarious point in history. It is particularly dangerous when you have an inferior Commander and Chief as we do now!!
