Those who are waiting with bated breath for the VA to be fixed or for Hillary to get her just reward would do well to read this article... then go have a stiff drink.

We the People have suffered through several years of questionable decisions from appellate courts up to an including the Supreme Bunch, including the questionable constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). They avoided the 5th Amendment issue of the government forcing citizens into commercial contracts that they didn't want by declaring a mere tax, then refused to examine the issue they themselves created in that decision: All taxes must originate in the House of Representatives and the ACA originated in the Senate.

Then there's the Department of Injustice which has flaunted its duty when the Attorneys General (two of them now) have declared that they will only enforce the laws they want and only against the people they want.

And, what the government can't take by direct taxation, they take by devaluing our money by printing more to fund programs that we can't afford.

Well, we once again have a chance to break the bonds that enslave us to this madness. Here's hoping that we wise up this year

I think we have become more of an executive branch (dictatorship) form of governance. We have major political players who are in obvious violation of national security policy and law. Chief executives who jump the gun and denigrate local polices forces who are shown to be doing their jobs. A president that selectively enforces federal law, and or ignores breaches of it for political purposes. A military senior leadership that ignores it's war fighter recommendation to meet political goals, often at the sacrifice of demonstrated mission efficiency. Our congress has not the political will to impeach, sequester funds, publicly censure those who are the most flagrant abusers of power. Courts that have run absolutely rampant over citizens rights.....we desperately need a Constitutional Resurrection in all federal government activities.....The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.....we need to return to this concept quickly or lose our Republic......

PO3 (Join to see) - Good one. Hadn't thought of that before. I wonder if Congress would work better if we turned it into a Reality Show.

I know we are taught that the U.S. government is all about the "balance of powers". In truth it is an imbalance with the power of each alternately ebbing and flooding. And, like the ebb time, Congress has been smelling pretty bad of late.

Well said, CPT Durish! This year will be a pivotal year in our republic's future. We have progressives, a socialist, a couple of narcissists, and maybe a couple of Constitutionalists. I can only hope and pray that people take a close look at their options, look at the candidates' character and look at their past history. It was a very sad indictment of our culture and our institutes of higher learning today when several Sanders supporters could not even define the word socialism. If you don't know what your candidate stands for, why in the hell do you support him/her??

Our government is in freefall. The executive branch wreaks havoc on all fronts: national security failures, economic uncertainty, and financially irresponsible. The legislative branch refuses to lead or take action; it is easily cowed into doing what ever the chief executive wants them to do. There are few, if any, real leaders on either side of the political aisle that will FIGHT for America. They are too busy making 'backroom deals' in which the American people pay the costs and are the real losers. The effectiveness of the judicial branch is compromised by a heavy handed chief executive that has an incredible amount of influence of this 'co-equal' branch of government.

Politicians are failing because they are too busy worrying about the art of the deal; avoiding hard and tough decisions to make weak compromises in which no one wins, and the Peoples' Business is left undone. We need a strong constitutionalist to lead our country: to hold others in check and to restore responsibility and accountability to public office. The man or woman at the top of the organization is responsible for everything the organization does and fails to do. Only when you have a chief executive that can take responsibility for his/her own actions and can hold others accountable for their actions can you expect to have an honest government. Once you solve the problems with top management, slippery little weasels like these two VA supervisors will be held accountable for their dishonorable service and will be punished for their horrendous criminal activity, instead of being protected by a bureaucratic shell game.

Ask that question to the poor and disenfranchised. We've known that answer for quite sometime.

We're all becoming poor (the middle class is fast disappearing) and disenfranchised (who really has a voice in the District of Calamity anymore). Once upon a time there was the hope of bettering ourselves, leaving our children a better world than the one we inherited, even the poor and disenfranchised. There was even a period when blacks were rising in wealth faster than whites. That is all gone now thanks to an ideology that has taken root, redistributing wealth from those who earned it to those who would sell their votes for it. Well, move over. We're all in the same boat now.
