"In an attempt to intimidate Western forces, ISIS has released a propaganda video demonstrating their advanced combat techniques

Some of their combat skills include punching clay tiles, tactical rolling, obstructing their muzzles with branches, and maintaining a 3 meter spacing in their soccer mom convoys."

Is this legitimate?

They are a threat because they have soldiers and weapons but not because of the 'skills' they are demonstrating here.

Therefore the solution is boots on the ground, but ISIS understands our politics and takes advantage of our divisions. All they do is aimed at provocation and that makes me think that there is more to this, possible my enemies enemies are my friends scenario. I will state that I have friends there now and they need help but it has to be done right and ASAP.

Obama can do more than 13 airstrikes per day. During the Gulf War there were 2,500 sorties per day. No more than 2 days of 2,500 sorties and maybe 5,000 ground troops and ISIS will cease to exist. I map their progress daily and they ARE dispersed but we know exactly where to bomb and deploy.

LTC Paul Labrador Colonel; Good points.

It's the difference between "military effectiveness" and "military efficiency". In Russia, the Germans were "militarily efficient" while the Russians were "militarily effective".

The "Calculus of War" has two main maxims:

[1] If you have the staffing depth to absorb the cost while inflicting more casualties than your opponent will allow it really doesn't matter how many of your people die in order to kill one of the other guy's people.

and

[2] If you won't quit fighting no matter how many times you are defeated, it doesn't really matter how many times you are defeated.

Yes they are definitely a threat! We may look at that video and chuckle at their training, but the simple fact is they are passionate about their training and believe in their cause. I am not saying their cause or training is of any worth (professionally), but there is something to be said about their passion and unity that must be recognized as dangerous. Maybe not so much in one on one combat between our and their forces, but to the innocent citizens that they will intimidate, harm and kill as a result of their confidence.

Another way to look at this video as to say that they purposely do this to get us to underestimate them. Any enemy that is willing to commit suicide is most dangerous.

A motivated solider is definitely a threat, even if his skills suck.

To underestimate an opponent is to truly fall to their power! That being said prepare for the worst while hoping for the best... If not then bag'em n tag'em never lett hem obtain the upper hand.

This is a poor attempt to show their training and capabilities. This video is them trying to be cool but that doesn't mean that they aren't a legitimate threat.

Lt Josh, apply Zun Tzu to the video and you will change your mind bear in mind that ISIS would not have accomplish so much in so very little time. Best to give them more credit thne to under estimate.

I am not under estimating them. I believe this was a poor attempt to show their capabilities and I believe they are a munch more capable than this video shows. The purpose of the video was to instill fear in their enemies. I believe many people that don't understand exactly what level of training they are doing in this video (practicing principles from The Art Of War such as maneuvering) won't be afraid of them, thus the video has failed it primary purpose. Although the video failed to accomplish its primary mission doesn't mean that they aren't a credible threat!

They are most certainly a high threat however the video makes them look like morons. Reminded me of the video a long time back of Iraqi soldiers trying to do jumping jacks. ISIS is not to be taken lightly despite this.

No. Not a threat to a trained military force. They are only a threat to civilians, children and those they outnumber.

It is not wise to underestimate an enemy, think about the possibility of your name and facts in ISIS hands, this happened while we laughed at their video.

I am sorry, but why are they not a threat? While some of you may hate to admit it, they are getting some training that most of us don't and worse of all, like CSM Michael J. Uhlig said, they are willing to do whatever it takes to kill westerners. This is why we are where we are now, we underestimated them and pulled out too quickly.

wow I should not have been on here with this page, doctors tell me not to watch the news and such because of my heart and the stress related heart attacks I have had. But could not help it when I heard ISIS threatened the Mall of America in my state of MN. I sit some nights not sleeping in worry that they will get the idea to come farther north to the border. Matter of fact I have only slept for 4 hrs in 3 nights from pain and anxiety over this subject and the first thumbs down I got tonight. So I should try to sleep. They say I may have the auto immune problem and so my medicine may not be working right and body fighting itself. It is fighting sleep and causing more pain too. I wonder if it would be wrong to offer to trade someone like me for a good person to them instead. The VA says I am going to dye anyway. I have tried so hard to figure out how to help those people in line for beheading. I no this probably sounds like the craziest thing but someone there may have many pain free years and family that love them. It would be freeing someone their life and freeing me of slow death and pain. I would really trade mine for theirs. Is that really wrong?? It is better then offering to trade more prisoners and money for someone.

PV2 Violet Case sorry to hear about your medical condition, you have to continue the fight. We don't negotiate with terrorist, period. We definitely shouldn't trade one of our own, no matter the circumstances. You should hold yourself to hold yourself to a higher standard, I'm sure there's plenty of people who loves you and care for you, those barbarians don't decide who lives or dies.

I understand they don't care who they take down or what they have in their lives. I pray our country can get in there and take them out soon. I got some sleep but woke up to a bad dream about them. I will continue to pray for all our men and women out there who are fighting. Not knowing them personally but hold a high respect for them all and love in my heart for them and what they do for this country. I do not understand how so many civilians can go about their lives and not care what is happening around them and are just unaware of how serious this could be or how it could possible one day affect them. I do fight each day to get by and have worked hard at detoxing and stuff thank you for the kindness 2LT Joseph Andre. Some of my family and friends mainly just call when they want or need something otherwise I do not hear much from them. Even tho anyone I know would tell you they trust me with their life. I began saying no to giving money, my VA talk help said that was good cause I am not a bank. But it did stop the contacting me from those people too. Service dogs were a really good idea on the VA's part and are really great to have :) and I thank God for mine. And places like RallyPoint.

They are threat. Not because their training looks funnier than video of two Tae Kwon Do toddler's sparring, but because they have weapons that can actually kill.

Furthermore their so called "ISIS Special Forces" consist of mainly foreign war veterans such as Chechens who fought extensively against Russian Federation forces in both Chechen wars. Those are no joke of the fighters.
