During the past two years, we have been targeted by many phone scammers even though we have listed all phones on the Do Not Call List.
In the past, the phone scams were focused on unknown creditors trying to contact unknown person; notification about pending legal action; IRS actions and other financial or legal activities.
Today we received a new scam from what appeared to be a local number that linked to an 866 number which had been linked to other scams. This scam was focused on a supposed appointment to unknown office three hours away. If we couldn’t make it, we were supposed to call the [login to see] number.
If an organization calls without specifying who they are and who they are trying to contact that is a red flag from a scamming perspective.

If my wife doesn't know the number that comes up on the caller ID, she won't answer it at all.

I always just hang up and do not respond in any way. I have received quite a few scam calls in the past. If they are particularly bad I forward the number they came from to the FBI.
